Hello! I am Julianne Ford, a student journalist from West Chester, Ohio. I am currently the News Editor, Sports Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the nationally-acclaimed Lakota East Spark News Magazine. This is my portfolio for the 2018 Ohio Journalist of the Year competition.

 

Some of the things I enjoy include coffee, staying up to date with the news and traveling. I swam varsity for three years of high school. I love drinking my iced coffee while reading the news in the morning. I love traveling around the United States and I hope to use my love of travel to further my career in journalism. 

 

Currently, I am an intern at Lakota Local Schools. I am in the public relations department. I edit videos and write stories that are published on LakotaOnline, the districts online resource directory. I also hosted a Spark Candidate Night for the six candidates running for the Lakota Local School Board in 2017. We asked them a series of questions ranging from technology in the classroom to a gender identity and expression policy. I have had frequent communication with our District Superintendent, Matthew Miller, about the varying issues and concerns within our schools.
