WRITING

FROM STUDENT TO THE BOARD

This was one of my favorite stories to write. I interviewed Brad at a local coffee shop, and while discussing a board member that did not run for re-election walked in to get coffee. He ended up sitting down and talking with us "off the record" about the board and changes coming with the new members.

FC KICKS IT IN CINCY

This was the most exciting story I have ever written. Reaching out to FCC was a very scary thing to do. I thought they would not respond, but to my luck, they had an amazing public relations director who worked firsthand with me. I went down to FCC headquarters to talk with her about the angle of the story and how I should go about writing the piece.

TRAGIC HERO

My very first chief column was something I wanted to be close to my heart. I chose to write about a very important person to the journalism community, Ray Murray. Before I wrote this column I had just finished interviewing him about the transgender policy. Even though  Murray is not going to be on the board the next two years, he will continue to be a crucial member of the journalism society.

NEW LAKOTA STAFF

I spend a lot of time on Lakota online. One thing I realized as I was going through the site was that Lakota had a lot of changes to their administrative staff. I wanted to know more about these changes that would be taking place so I decided that a story on these staffers would be the best fit.

HONORED

ROUNDING UP ROUNDABOUTS

After constantly being stuck in traffic and taking detours, I decided I wanted to write a piece on. the roundabouts that were added to the Liberty Township area. I was able to get in contact with the engineer that helped design all of the roundabouts. This was not a one time story, I had another girl do a follow-up story to this after the county has continued to build roundabouts.

MINORITIES MAJORITY

This was my first column and I wanted to take a risk. It is always hard talking about political beliefs and religious beliefs to others. So I wrote this column to show the reader where I am coming from when I talk about my views.

MATTHEW MILLER

When the district announced the final two candidates for the superintendent position I contacted both of them immediately. One candidate did not respond, but Mr. Miller responded within the day ready to set up an interview. We first spoke on the day he was officially picked as the finalists. I spent a great deal of time interviewing and getting to know Mr. Miller. Over the course of a year, I have been able to see Mr. Miller shine as the Lakota superintendent.

Writing for sports is something I love to do. Athletes are so passionate about their selective sport and it shows throughout the interviews. I went to games and watched Edie practices while writing this story.
