NEWS GATHERING
BOARD REJECTS TRANSGENDER POLICY
This story is the part two of the transgender policy series. I drove up to Bexley with current Spark public relations coordinator Landon Meador. Our former board member, Ray Murray told us that the proposed Lakota policy was based on Bexley City Schools. I wanted to see firsthand how Bexley formed their policy and compare it to Lakota's proposed policy.
ELECTION DAY HEAT
This fall I attended and hosted a candidate night for the candidates for the Lakota Local School Board. I followed the candidates throughout the entire election cycle. This story was published after the two nights and the election.
LAKOTA ADDS NEW CLASSES
This was a quick-hitting news story on new classes added to the East High School Curriculum.
UNDER THE EYES OF JOURNALISM
This was an in-depth on people who were against journalism. I interviewed former Spark editor-in-chief Emma Stiefel who is an aspiring journalist to be the face for this story. I thought that having the story angled around an aspiring journalist would be the best way to show how the media is affecting generations.
SUPERINTENDENT SEARCH
This was my first big news story that required a lot of reporting, researching and interviewing. For this story, I even went off the record with a former administrator who gave me a list of potential candidates to contact. I went through the entire Lakota Educator Licensure list and contacted everyone with a superintendent license. This was my first look into the school district.
